Who's Buying Lunch Today?
Teachers- Have you ever forgotten to do lunch count in the morning? Ever get tired of yelling, "Who's buying lunch today?" each morning to half asleep students who probably aren't even paying attention? Have no fear-I have the cure for you! Displaying your daily class lunch count in your classroom is cute and a major life saver. Having numbered magnets for each student is such a helpful hint for forgetful teachers. It makes our job so much easier in the morning. It also provides another step in each student's morning routine which is great. Routines are the backbone to any Elementary classroom. Routines make teachers lives easier and they also save valuable classroom time. Students feel safe and secure with routines and they know exactly what is expected of them. Some students may need reminders to move their magnet the first few times but I promise they will get the hang of it in no time. Remember, practice makes perfect! Each day students will be more and more on top of this small task. Each student will learn responsibility by remembering to move their magnet to the appropriate column each morning. Kids also are obsessed with having their own number and magnet-it's the small things in life! :) This display also looks super cute in the classroom! I love this idea and I think you will too. There are a bunch of different ways to create a "who's buying lunch today" display. I personally like the magnet idea because most classrooms have file cabinets that these can stick on. This display also doesn't require much work or materials at all. Be creative and make this display however you like. You could even just use construction paper and cut out the letters for "yes" and no." Have fun and enjoy your life as a teacher being just a little bit easier.
Hi Kristyn! I love this idea with the lunch magnets! I actually had to cover a first grade classroom in the morning last week (my school didn't have enough substitutes) and the teacher had something like this. The children have their face on the magnet and when they come into the classroom, they put it under the spot. It was nice and easy to see who was buying lunch or bringing lunch!
